About Blasfêmia:

BLASFÊMIA is a co-produced theatrical project by Companhia Babélica de Teatro, bringing together artists from Brazil and Peru in a collaborative process of creation and performance across both countries. Funded by the Iberescena Program, the piece is written and directed by Tito Muniz, Alanis Mahara, Augusto Casafranca, and Jorge Villanueva Bustíos, and features performances by Chrystian Roque and Mau.

The work proposes a reflection on Latin American identity through the lens of death and its distances. Interweaving the carnivals of Cajamarca (Peru) and Santana de Parnaíba (Brazil), the performance reveals how these popular celebrations blur the lines between life and death, body and spirit. The narrative unfolds through the fabled perspective of two worms in a cemetery, offering a poetic and critical analysis of the Latin American body and culture as acts of resistance and survival.

About Companhia Babélica de Teatro:

In May 2025, the Company sets out for Europe, carrying with it these parasitic creatures that migrate from body to body, opening new lines of inquiry before the national premiere. This time, we intensify the interlinguistic encounters by heading to Germany, where we will spend fifteen days in residency and performance between the cities of Nuremberg and Berlin. This stage of the journey is made possible in collaboration with institutions such as Friedrich-Alexander Universität Nürnberg/Erlangen—a state university in Bavaria—the Musikalia Coletiva—an interdisciplinary collective based in Nuremberg dedicated to spreading Brazilian culture in Germany—and Theater Expedition Metropolis in Berlin.
